Call to the Nation – Enough is Enough

Say No to moral rebranding and growing restrictions on freedom of speech!

On 15^th June this year, to commemorate the 800^th anniversary of the actual signing of Magna Carta, VfJUK is organizing a Rally outside Parliament, asking the question, How free are YOU today?

As readers of this blog will know, in 1215 England was on the brink of civil war. On June 15^th, therefore, King John met with the rebellious barons at Runnymede and signed what was in effect a peace treaty; Magna Carta. It was revolutionary in every sense, placing God’s law first, and making the king equally subject along with the barons, who were thus protected against the monarch’s coercive abuse of power. Today the Charter has become one of the most celebrated and influential documents in history, rightly seen as the foundation for Democracy worldwide.   Lord Denning described it as, “… the foundation of the freedom of the individual against the arbitrary authority of the despot.”

But today those ancient freedoms are being eroded. In particular the Rights to free speech and freedom of conscience are being increasingly and alarmingly restricted, as evidenced by the growing number of cases against Christians alleging discrimination, bigotry and homophobia. At the same time the liberal agenda is imposing ever tighter control on sex and relationships education, to the extent that we are dangerously close to the criminalization of Christian belief, with parents in real danger of no longer having the right to determine what and how their child will be taught.

In the name of diversity, all children must learn that gender is a matter of choice, and that they should explore their sexuality before committing to repressive and constricting gender stereotypes!

But what of our Rights, and the Right freely to practice our religion? Exactly when did the cult of self override all other belief?  What about the happiness and wellbeing of the nation’s young?

It’s time for Christians to stand up for our faith and lay claim to the Rights enshrined in Magna Carta! Come and join us for our Rally on June 15 in Parliament Square. We’ll be gathering at 11am, and would love to see you there. Come yourself and bring along 10 others. And ask each of them to bring along 10 more too!  Spread the word and bring along a bus load! Together we can make a difference.
