In 2021, according to the statistics website Worldometer, there were just over 42.6 million abortions worldwide, making it the leading cause of death last year across the globe. This contrasts with 8.2 million deaths from cancer, 5 million from smoking, 1.7 million from HIV / AIDS, 1.3 million from traffic accidents, 1 million from suicide … and 3.5 million from coronavirus.

The global number of abortions in 2021 was actually comparatively low. According to the World Population Review, there are roughly 73 million induced abortions each year, with 29% of all pregnancies now ending in abortion*.
Men and women are made in the image of God, and life begins at conception. The Bible states unequivocally that life is God’s gift, and that we are each one of us special, with a unique destiny known to God from before we are even conceived, and that only we can fulfil**.
Yet over the last century, at a conservative estimate, we have denied the right to life of around 7% of the entire human race. This is sin, at a level never seen since the dawn of creation. By our indiscriminate slaughter of the unborn, humanity has placed itself under judgment.
Covid:
Since the pandemic started in 2020, there is estimated globally to have been around 5.5 million deaths. That number is rising. Covid-19 is not in itself judgment. There is every probability it was produced by human agency. But it is without doubt that God has withdrawn His protection, and what the world is now experiencing is warning of the judgment that lies ahead. Unless the world repents.
