According to top UK employment lawyers, Labour’s Employment Rights Bill will prevent British companies and corporations from following the US example of scrapping, or radically scaling back, diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) schemes. Failure to have in place effective diversity and inclusivity schemes, including training for all employees, would, they say, open up employers to ‘adverse findings of discrimination’.
As an aside, it is interesting to note, by the way, that the acronym ‘dei’ is plural for the Latin ‘deus’, meaning god. The translation is therefore gods, making DEI schemes flagbearer for this new State-sponsored attempt to impose LGBTQ+ ideology onto society. Truly, a new religion. To return, however, to the claims of the Employment Lawyers Association (ELA), they insist that failure to implement or follow DEI policies will mean that companies will be unable to show that they have taken all reasonable steps to protect workers from harassment relating to age, race, gender, or belief.
Let us be clear, VfJUK fully supports measures to prevent workplace harassment or intimidation, but we are somewhat puzzled as to why, in practice, all groups seem to be protected … except for Christians. LGB, transgender, minority religious groups, all alike seem vigorously – perhaps over-vigorously – defended. But Christians claiming the same rights to manifest and practise their belief in the workplace are disciplined, sent for inclusivity training, overlooked for promotion, reported to the police and, at worst, sacked with no right of internal appeal.
Google, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp may all, in recent months, have scrapped their DEI programmes, but here in the UK businesses and companies attempting to follow suit will, apparently, as result of the Employment Rights Bill, be subject to legal sanction. Which means that Woke values will continue to prevail, and those expressing Christian faith will continue to be harassed, intimidated and suppressed.
Is this genuine inclusivity and diversity? No, it isn’t. It is a policy-led exercise of extreme prejudice against Christians, by those seeking to impose an ideological agenda hostile to the UK’s traditional Christian values and culture. It is the State-sanctioned imposition of a new religion, that, in its drive for supremacy, will brook no rival. It is the precursor to increased active discrimination against those holding Christian belief. As such, it must be resisted!

Third reading of Assisted Dying Bill moved from 25th April to 16th May
Kim Leadbeater, sponsor for the Bill hoping to legalise assisted suicide, has put back the Report stage of the Bill to 16 May. The rollout for the Bill, if passed, has also been pushed back from 2027 to 2029.
Postponement of the Bill’s debate follows controversy over some of the Bill’s 150 amendments, including the removal of the need for approval of any request by a High Court judge. This was clearly shown to be administratively unworkable, so the requirement has now been replaced by a panel of experts, comprised of a social worker, a psychiatrist, and a senior legal figure. There is no requirement any of these so-called experts should have experience of issues relating to health care, and major concern has been expressed.
The precise reason for the delay is unknown. Ms Leadbeater says she wants extra time for MPs to be able to look at amendments more fully. More prosaically, the truth may be that assisted suicide supporters fear they may lose, and are wanting extra time to canvas support. It is known, for example, that MPs forming part of the Assisted Suicide team have been sending staff round to all MPs’ offices to drum up support.
It is vital that in these next weeks we keep pressure on MPs to persuade the ‘waverers’ to vote against this pernicious and dangerous Bill.
