Christus Rex

On Saturday, 31st January, UKIP has scheduled a demonstration with the simple title Walk with Jesus, to be held in Whitechapel.  This march has now been cancelled by the Metropolitan police over fears of provoking the local Muslim community.  Apart from articles in the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Express, coverage by mainstream media appears to have been deafening in its silence.

This is outrageous.  Despite the growing demands of Islam for universal religious compliance, Britain remains a Christian country, and there should not be no-go areas for lawful expression of our religion on the streets for fear of offending those who oppose it – no matter how violent the threatened response might be.  And in this instance, let there be no mistake, the Muslim population of Whitechapel is known to be violent.  In October last year, for instance, when a similar march was held, a large group of Bangladeshi men in balaclavas took to the streets, pledging to “defend their community”, leading Reform leader Nigel Farrage to describe what subsequently occurred as one of the most terrifying things he had ever seen.

Such pusillanimous and craven surrender to pressure, by the police – and indeed by all our public bodies – is not to be tolerated. The duty of the police is uniformly and without favour to uphold the law, maintain public order, and to prevent crime – not to kowtow to ideological and religious pressure from minority groups threatening violent disorder if they don’t get their own way!

According to the Muslim Council of Britain, Muslims overall make up just 6% of the population of the UK; as opposed to the 46.2% of the population who self-identify as Christian.    Yet, despite the fact they are essentially incomers to our country – who have presumably come because they are seeking a better life in a country renowned for its justice, tolerance, and openness to all – we see Muslims increasingly demanding social and cultural primacy.  Halal meat, for instance, is more and more being served in schools, hospitals and on airlines, with no option on the part of consumers to opt-out, while the proportion of non-stunned animals providing meat to supermarkets – slaughtered according to Islamic requirements, and including religious blessing – is apparently ‘rising dramatically’, with the cruelty involved in such slaughter being conveniently overlooked in our historically animal-loving society.

Similarly, Sharia law, enforcing a justice-system that is incompatible with UK law, is becoming progressively rife, with at least 85 known Sharia courts operating in cities across England and Wales.  At the same time, London is now acknowledged as the leading Western hub for Islamic finance, with our major banks now all offering Sharia-compliant banking.

The truth is that, slowly but surely, we are being undermined and  taken over by those who hold values inimical to our Christian faith and who seek dominance.  And the powers that be are not just ‘letting it happen’, but are seemingly actively complicit.

What next?  Will there be calls for all women to wear a burqa? Will Christmas be outlawed, and Christians increasingly subjected to legal sanction if they dare express their faith?  Will church bells be banned – replaced by the Muslim call to prayer sounding out five times a day across our cities and villages?

This must stop.  NOW.  It is time for the police to do their job properly, and not bow to coercive pressure on the part of those who are acting against our culture and traditional way of life.
The Walk with Jesus in Whitechapel must be allowed to go ahead!
