How do we keep children safe in a corrupt world?

Once upon a time Britain was known for its standards of fairness, justice, and decency, and our protection of freedom of belief and speech. We were known as a quiet, phlegmatic people, perhaps even a shade over-controlled, but it was generally felt that, whatever might happen, we could be relied upon to maintain standards and ‘do the right thing’. Though inevitably over the centuries there were times when we made mistakes, our values overall were a direct result of the Christian faith that underpinned our laws and culture, and we sought to honour God.

Yet over the last few decades there has been a sea change. Our once famous standards have come under relentless attack, with the result that Britain is no longer the beacon of even-handed decency and honesty it once was, but has rather become a corrupt and fractured society that viciously attacks all we once held dear. ‘Morality’ itself has been redefined so that it no longer upholds the greater good, but rather promotes individual self-interest, no matter how egocentrically perverted – with the inevitable result of hopelessly fractured families, ever-increasing violence on our streets, and a mental health crisis that even fifty years ago would have been inconceivable. Sad to say, to be ‘English’, in England, has become a term of derision, and our society has become corrupt.

How has this happened? Two reasons perhaps come to mind. First, our nation has come under attack from an aggressive ideology that stands diametrically opposed to Western values, and that deliberately orchestrated a strategy to bring about the fall of Western democracy in order, longer term, to impose Communist control (see also: https://www.nationthailand.com/life/30337664). Second, in part as outworking of that strategy, since the 1950s the UK has seen unprecedented numbers of people seeking to move to our country, drawn by our visible prosperity, free health service, and benefits system. Once here (as predicted by leading thinkers of the Frankfurt School), instead of adopting and integrating into our culture, many of these ‘in-comers’ have attacked it, seeking to impose cultural norms that are overtly hostile to our British heritage and Christian belief.

So what? you might think. After all, societies inevitably evolve and change over time, and perhaps what we are seeing is just part of the organic development of a culture that has outlived its initial function. And such a view might well be valid, if our society was not now in such obvious terminal decline. But the growing chaos, evident all round, surely demands we take action – most especially for the sake of the nation’s young, who are inheritors of our vacuous mismanagement. If only for their wellbeing, we must recover the Christian values on which our nation is founded – that once indeed made us ‘Great’ – and unashamedly take action to preserve our heritage and national identity. In particular, we must stop trying to indoctrinate children into values that not just have no basis in, but directly contradict, science and that cause confusion and harm.

Without doubt, the world is approaching a crisis and none of us know what lies ahead. Sir Keir Starmer is today meeting with President Donald Trump in an effort to hold back the growing threat of war, and whether he will be successful or not, only time will tell. But the signs, sad to say, are not encouraging. VfJUK says again, in the challenges that lie ahead, only God can help. Time and again, in the past, the Lord has miraculously delivered us in times of crisis and, without doubt, His will remains to save – but for that to happen, we need to repent and change.
