Following an undercover Times “investigation” into so-called conversion therapy, Lynda Rose considers the case of a lesbian journalist who pretended to want to become “straight” and approached a Christian group for help. Her ultimate goal was to show what she believed was bad practice, yet she recognised that there was neither condemnation nor coercion from the therapist she encountered. Instead, she says that she was treated empathetically and reassured that whatever path she chose, she would be given unqualified support.
