On the evening of Wednesday, 13th May, the new session of the Scottish Parliament was opened with the traditional Royal Kirking at St Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh. In her sermon delivered at the service, The Right Reverend Rosie Frew, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, said that the start of the Parliamentary term offered a “new beginning”. This it most definitely was – though perhaps not in the way she intended.
The service was as ‘inclusive’ as the organisers could make it, including Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish, Pagan, and Humanist blessings. As part of the Muslim contribution, Quran 4:58 was recited: ‘… Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice…’. On the face of it, this sounds a worthy aspiration, but dig a little deeper, and it becomes alarming. In Islam, the idea of ‘justice’ is based on submission to Allah, and it requires strict and absolute compliance with Sharia law – which rejects democracy and the rule of law, and holds that women are inferior to men. Moreover, it curses Jews, calling them “pigs and swine” (Surah 5:60), and calls for dhimmi (Jews and Christians living under Muslim rule) to pay a tribute tax called jizya (Surah 9:29).
The blessing being pronounced was therefore in direct contradiction to Scottish law. Which in itself is perhaps bad enough, but to put this in a little more context, it should be remembered that Islam is not just a religion, but an all-encompassing political system, and that the adhan, along with all public congregational prayer, whether on the street, in mosques, Christian churches, or government buildings, is a declaration of authority and dominance, the precursor to assertion of territorial control and societal submission. Not for nothing do Islamic activists and Imams talk about ‘conquering’ Europe with prayers and babies.
Which is why we should also be concerned, following the May elections, at the invitation of newly elected Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Zak Chowdry, to an Imam to read an Islamic prayer in Arabic at his swearing in ceremony. This rightly provoked complaints from Reform councillors, who said all Council meetings should be conducted only in English and that allowing Islamic prayers, when Christian prayers were banned, was a deliberate erosion of our heritage.
Absolutely right! With the growing number of towns where Muslims comprise over 50% of the population, and with around 2,200 mosques in the UK and at least 85 known Sharia Courts, what we are seeing is the relentless infiltration into our society of a value system that is at heart inimical to our culture, heritage, identity, and way of life. A value system that refuses to integrate, but rather seeks to take over and impose control. To our shame, it is an occupation that we are not just allowing, but actively facilitating, by our insistent promotion of diversity and inclusivity policies, demanding, as they do, the nation’s prioritisation of minority ethnic interests over that of the majority indigenous population.
This is not equality
Why, with all the talk of ‘rights’ and inclusivity, are we not seeing outcry against the ever-growing discrimination against Christians? Why, when Muslims regularly take part in Christian services, are Christians not being invited to say prayers or read from the Bible in mosques? Why have white, middle-class men been banned from public sector internship, with only female, black heritage, or lower socio-economic applicants considered? Why do so many organizations and businesses – including the police – prioritise candidates from less qualified ‘ethnic minority’ groups over all white applicants?
Why is all this okay?
No matter what Sir Keir Starmer and his fellow travellers claim, this is flagrant and poisonous discrimination and racial prejudice against white people, and one can only wonder why the Government appears so committed to promoting the interests of minority groups over those of the majority indigenous population. The truth they appear so unwilling to confront is that there is an infection eating away at the heart of our society, and without urgent treatment the prognosis is dire. In fact it is so bad that, without counter-measures to restore the balance, the patient will not survive.
The British, traditionally, are a quiet, tolerant people – polite and fair. By temperament, we are not easily roused. But once we are, we stand. Now the UK is at a crossroads, under attack from ideologies hostile to the values on which our nation is founded, and it is time for the slumbering bulldog to awake!
To have any hope of survival, Britain must once again stand on those values – rooted in the Bible – that for the last 1,500 years have underpinned and provided the framework for our society, culture and democracy. Values of truth, honesty, respect for others, and genuine tolerance. We must once again honour the legacy of those who have gone before and given their lives that we might live.
Let us not forget that, at heart, we are a Christian nation. Down the years, while we have kept faith (however imperfectly) with Christ, He has protected and delivered us – from plague, pestilence, internal conflict, and foreign attack. And He will do so again – but only if we repent and reject the evil we have done, and acknowledge Him as Lord. This is the medicine that alone can save us. We must return as a nation to our Christian roots, and then follow, without fear or compromise, the Lord’s commands.
