If you saw a man being beaten up for his faith at the side of the road, and unable to defend himself, would you help?
Well, VfJUK isn’t into physical confrontation, but that’s what we do – we seek to defend and protect those who can’t defend themselves, and who are suffering any kind of abuse or exploitation. Children being subjected to ideological indoctrination. The unborn who are so casually ‘disposed of’ these days – because they’re not really people and it doesn’t matter. Those at the end of life, facing the journey we will all some day have to make, but wanting to do it in God’s timing, not man’s. And all those facing abuse, coercion, discrimination or disadvantage on account of their faith.
We seek to defend Christian values and belief in an increasingly hostile secular world. At what we believe to be God’s command, we are working to reclaim the ground – God’s ground – and to seek after the lost.
But to continue, we find ourselves in need of help. Financial help. VfJUK operates on a shoe-string, and all the money we receive goes into our work.
Over the last two years we’ve been conducting a Commission of Inquiry into Discrimination Against Christians (CIDAC), hearing testimony from those claiming to have suffered discrimination or to have been put at a disadvantage, on the grounds, or because, of their faith. Men and women who’ve been pilloried, sacked from their jobs, arrested, sent for diversity training, or even reported to Prevent – and all because they dared voice Christian belief as set down in the Bible.
The law, as it stands, purportedly enshrining religious freedom and equality for all, is not fit for purpose, and the stories of these brave men and women – resolutely suppressed by our tolerant, equal, inclusive, and diverse society – need to be heard. This is the purpose of our Commission Report, which we are currently preparing, and which we intend to present to Parliament. We are seeking to make a difference.
But this is only part of our work, and we are at the forefront of the battle to defend the nation against ideological and religious attack, however and wherever that manifests. Currently, for example, we are running a campaign against the misuse of church buildings for secular events – such as electronic music concerts and silent discos, or to host multi-faith events for religions that deny the sovereignty of Christ, as Son of God. And we are continuing the battle to defend life, at both its beginning and end.
It is your support alone that enables us to do these things. Will you help us? At the moment, our Finance Director tells me that we have enough money to fund our work for one more month.
Our funds really are that low, but we believe our work is too important to let it die like that.
We believe we are called by God to uphold His name, to defend His children, and to reclaim the land for Christ. Please, if you can, help us continue the battle!
A one-off gift would be wonderful, but even better would be a regular donation, so that we can better plan our work.
Help us defend those who cannot defend themselves.
