It doesn’t take a genius to see that, without urgent action, the UK is headed for disaster. Fuel shortages resulting from Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, now compounded by the US tit-for-tat blockade of Iranian ports, are already having an impact on our freedom of movement, food supplies, and general cost of living. And while there is warning of global economic disruption and threat of recession, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has specifically warned that, of the seven industrialised democracies (G7), Britain is far and away facing the biggest and most severe economic crisis, from which it will be difficult to recover.
Meanwhile the threat of armed conflict grows – externally, with increased, though currently covert, belligerence from both Russia and China; and internally, from what many fear is an attempted Islamic takeover of British society, with applicants for British citizenship taking the UK citizenship test now required to know the difference between Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha, and, perhaps unsurprisingly in such a climate, growing numbers of indigenous Christians being physically abused in what are increasingly claimed to be Muslim areas, subject to Shia law.
Defence chiefs and top military advisers have already warned that Britain needs to prepare for war, and that there is urgent need to strengthen and improve our armed forces. Indeed, Lord Robertson of Port Ellen and Sir Richard Barrons, two of the three authors of Sir Keir’s strategic defence review (SDR), have openly criticised the Prime Minister’s sluggish and inadequate response to defence spending, which they say has left the country vulnerable and at heightened risk of attack. But it is equally true that our current multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-faith policies, all aimed at embedding foreign cultural, religious and ethnic differences, can only undermine and further erode the traditional cultural identity and values of our once-great nation.
To have any chance of surviving the challenges that lie ahead, it is urgent that we recover the faith and values on which our nation is founded, and once again ‘own’ our Christian heritage and identity. It will be remembered that Christianity first arrived on our shores around 42 AD, brought here by Roman traders. Against all odds, it took root and spread and, by the late 7th century, most of England was officially Christian. Magna Carta, signed on 15th June 1215, further laid down the principle that the king held authority and ruled under God – the Christian God. This is the foundation for the Rule of Law and the cornerstone of democracy, which has spread around the world, protecting ordinary men and women ever since from the injustice of imposed subjugation and tyranny. And while we have striven, however imperfectly, to keep faith with God, He has protected and delivered us … from pestilence, plague, conflict, and all external attack.
If we will only turn back to Him, God will do so again. But if we reject the sovereignty of Christ and His help, the consequences do not bear thinking about. We shall reap the whirlwind. The stark truth is that the threats are now so great, that only He can deliver us. Britain must choose. Most especially, each and every one of us must make a positive decision – to repent our wrong, self-glorifying and self-serving choices and return to Christ; or to sit back complacently, in the vain hope that others may save us, while we continue our sinful lifestyles, mouthing vacuous platitudes of tolerance, choice, and inclusivity.
The god of Self will not save us. The god of Islam will not save us. Christ alone holds the key to our salvation, and will deliver us … if we only turn back to Him and ask.
